Te Amo is sired by the Tolando son, Tokio. Tolando was the stallion licensing Champion and later became winner of the 2005/2006 stallion competitions before being sold to Canada. Tolando is, in turn, a product of the Grand Prix stallion and top progenitor,  Krack C who, under Anky van Grunsven won the Grand Prix’s of ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Rotterdam, Helsinki, Oslo, Wiesbaden, Moscow, Norten Hardenberg, Mechelen and Aachen.

Dam Sire, Lacantus, was an exceptional stallion with exemplary dual quality, convincing in regard to his type, gaits and jumping ability. Grand sire, Lord Calando, was a half brother of the Olympic stallion Carthago and produced international competitors such as Lux Z. The dam, Dornrose II, came from the superior sire Cantus, who produced important stallions such as Come On, Cascavelle, Cassius Clay, Calido I and II and Cyrano.
